Cycle path network
The node system
Cycle paths, cycle paths, cycle paths - the Münsterland offers over 4,500 km of them. But how can you keep track of so many cycle paths? The practical junction system has also found its way into our region. This means you always have an overview and can plan your cycle tour according to your wishes.

The system originally comes from Belgium and the Netherlands and is becoming increasingly popular. "In the cycle route network of a junction system, all junctions are numbered consecutively," explains city mobility officer Vanessa Hullermann. "At the junctions, there are signposts to all neighboring junctions. In addition to the number of the junction, the routes to neighboring junctions are shown here. The signposts to a neighboring junction are labeled with its number."
In future, there will also be an orientation board at individual junctions with a map of the network system and the numbering of the junctions. These will be added throughout the Coesfeld district over the course of the year.
The advantage of the system is that cyclists no longer have to memorize the route of the planned route. "It is sufficient to orientate yourself along the junctions," says Stefan Wiemann, Managing Director of Lüdinghausen Marketing. "The route can also be changed more easily at each junction." The new system will strengthen cycle tourism in Lüdinghausen and the region and make it increasingly attractive.
"The number of cycle tourists continues to increase and we are delighted to be able to provide them with optimal conditions here locally," says Wiemann. The districts of Borken, Steinfurt and Warendorf as well as the city of Münster also have such signage so that cyclists can plan extensive tours along the system.
