Rose garden Seppenrade

On the site of a former garbage tip on the outskirts of Seppenrade, the local history association and a few helpers began to plant some rose beds in 1968: The rose garden was born. Women from the village took over the care of these beds on a voluntary basis. Today, the rose garden covers 18753 m² and is the jewel of the village.

600 varieties of roses

There are currently around 600 varieties of roses and 24,000 rose plants to admire in the garden. This park is still maintained by volunteers today. The beds are maintained through sponsorships, and the volunteer rose ladies and rose men look after the plants. Some rose men, who are already pensioners, meet every Wednesday from 8.30 to 11.30 a.m. for special work assignments. The spraying and fertilizing of the roses is carried out by experts in the association for all beds.

The home house in the center

The home house, which stands in the middle of the garden, was built by the home association between 1997 and 1998. It is used for garden tools and machinery. Public toilets are also available to visitors at all times. The park is open all year round and admission is free.

Around 2.5 km of paved paths and 39 benches are available to visitors from near and far. Even the spring flowers attract several thousand visitors until the park becomes a sea of blossoms between June and the end of August. A pond with 70m³ of water, water lilies and over 300 ornamental fish has also been created. Rose experts offer guided tours of the rose garden.

Guided tour through the rose garden
