Dietrich Hake zu Patzlar

Namesake of the poorhouse
Dietrich Hake zu Patzlar (1589-1648)
Dietrich belonged to a collateral line of the family that owned Wolfsberg Castle. They probably settled at Patzlar Castle, an episcopal castle south of Lüdinghausen on the River Stever, in the 14th century.
The Hakehaus is named after him. The Hakehaus is a former poorhouse that was built in 1667. This makes it the oldest secular building in Lüdinghausen. It is a listed building and is owned by the Hake Foundation. The Latin inscription on the gable end of the house leads one to believe that Hake himself commissioned its construction. In fact, he made no mention of the house in his will. The decision to build a poorhouse was made by the foundation's board of directors.
