Stritzken

Wilhelm Schifenhövel (1899-1970)
Stritzken is one of Lüdinghausen's originals. His real name was Wilhelm Schifenhövel and he lived in Lüdinghausen from 1899 to 1970. He acquired his name because he liked to order a schnapps at the Einhaus inn ("Dao mi noa een Stritzken").
He was an instrument grinder and lived at Langbrückenstraße 15, now Geiping. Stritzken had a mischievous streak in his neck and was particularly amused by the ladies of high society. He liked to make funny comments about them.
Stritzken still gives his name to the daily column in the Westfälische Nachrichten today. The bronze statue, which stands in front of his former home in Langenbrückenstraße, was donated by the Rotary Club Lüdinghausen in 2010.
