Lake Klutensee

Hiking, swimming, observing nature
The Klutensee is an approximately seven-hectare quarry pond on the outskirts of Lüdinghausen. The nature reserve invites visitors to hike or cycle along the circular hiking trail. Water birds that use the lake as a breeding ground can also be observed. The local fishing club has a clubhouse right on the shore and fishes there for pike, rudd, roach, ide and chub. Thanks to the good water quality, there is also the opportunity for swimming or activities on the water, so cooling off on hot days is guaranteed. Just 100 meters south of the lake is the Klutensee pool.
The Klutensee was created in 1936/37 during the construction of the new route for the Dortmund-Ems Canal, as earth was needed for the embankment to be built.
