The feel-good place in Münsterland

Lüdinghausen is the feel-good town in Münsterland and is known as the town of moated castles. Vischering Castle, Lüdinghausen Castle and the rose garden in Seppenrade are the town's main attractions. Lüdinghausen is characterized by a lot of culture and a lively city centre with a great shopping and gastronomy offer. The people here live a committed life together and are very attached to their home town.

Nature and water

Living where others go on vacation: Lüdinghausen is characterized by its exceptional recreational value. Visitors and locals relax and unwind between the Stever, canal, Klutensee lake, wide fields in the Münsterland parkland and the castle moats, the rose garden and on the cycle paths around the town. The proximity to water and nature and the natural connection between city and countryside characterize the special attitude to life. "Here, you have one foot in nature and the other in the city," say locals and visitors alike.

Lively and family-friendly

Owner-managed businesses are what make Lüdinghausen and Seppenrade so charming. Residents and visitors appreciate the diverse and attractive range of offers. A wide range of educational facilities (both kindergartens and schools are excellent), varied leisure facilities, musical and sporting activities and an appealing range of restaurants are part of the town's identity and are aimed at the town's residents and families as well as people from the surrounding area. Families will find everything they need to live here.

Cittaslow

Lüdinghausen was the first municipality in NRW to be awarded the "cittaslow" seal, which promotes particularly liveable cities that value regional products, short supply routes, sustainability and deceleration.

Committed cooperation

Lüdinghausen lives from its people and their commitment. They are hospitable, open and welcoming. They are united by a deep connection with the town, nature and people. The commitment of the citizens makes the difference: they fill the town and the events with life. The connection to the special backdrop, such as the historic castles, creates the special uniqueness in which people meet and exchange ideas at festivals and events.

Lüdinghausen - there's nowhere else you'd rather be at home!

Location and accessibility

Lüdinghausen can look back on dynamic economic development. Lüdinghausen's proximity to the economic centers of Münster, the Ruhr region and the Netherlands plays an important role in this. Lüdinghausen impresses with its excellent supra-regional connections via road, rail, air and water

Road

The B 58, B 235 and B 474, three major federal highways, cross in Lüdinghausen. The following can be reached within a 15 to 30-minute radius:

  • A 1 Bremen/Cologne (Ascheberg slip road)
  • A 2 Oberhausen/Hannover (Castrop-Rauxel or Waltrop slip roads)
  • A 31 Emden/Oberhausen (Gescher/Coesfeld slip road)

Rail

Another advantage of Lüdinghausen is its connection to the rail network. Situated on the Dortmund-Enschede line, the important transport hubs on the Rhine-Ruhr line can be reached quickly.

Air

There are two airports in the region that offer connections to more distant destinations in Germany and beyond. The following can be reached within a radius of around 40 km:

  • Münster/Osnabrück airport
  • Dortmund/Wickede airport

With the Borkenberge airfield, Lüdinghausen also has its own commercial airfield.

Water

Lüdinghausen is connected to the nationwide waterway network via the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Thanks to its own loading point, companies have the opportunity to tranship goods on site.
