Brassband Lüdinghausen and Seppenrader Dorfmusikanten are now the Lüdinghausen Seppenrade brass band

The Brassband Lüdinghausen and the Seppenrader Dorfmusikanten have merged. Margret Grieger told us in an interview why this happened and why it is so much fun to play together.

Ms. Grieger, how did it come about that the two groups made music together?

Grieger: During the coronavirus period, neither group was able to rehearse, they didn't have any gigs and some musicians stayed away. In spring 2022, the board members got talking and considered whether the upcoming gigs could somehow be managed together. We started rehearsing together and after 8 weeks of intensive rehearsals, we put together a repertoire with which we could perform at the shooting festivals, Rose Festival and processions.

And what happened next?

Grieger: 2022 went well, so we continued together in 2023. It was clear to everyone that we would stay together. The chemistry between the musicians was right and it would just be "stupid" if we broke up again. It was the best decision we could have made.

Why is the collaboration so good?

Grieger: We are simply a great community. Young and old play together: from 15 to 70, every age group is involved, although the young people now predominate. Everyone helps each other, regardless of age, which is incredibly nice.

How many members do you have together and when do you rehearse?

Grieger: There are around 30 active members and we always rehearse on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. in the Don Bosco Haus in Seppenrade.

Are new musicians welcome?

Grieger: Yes, we are always looking for new members. If you are interested, just come to rehearsals or contact us by e-mail. We are just as happy to welcome back as newcomers. If required, we can also help you find a suitable music teacher and provide instruments.

Which instruments are played in the wind orchestra?

Grieger: In addition to the classic wind instruments such as trumpet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, tuba, woodwind instruments such as flute, clarinet or saxophone, we also play drums, percussion or electric guitar.

Are you planning a concert with the new formation?

Grieger: Having already played a few beer garden concerts, we are planning a spring concert at the secondary school on Sunday, March 23 at 4 pm.

Under the motto "Adventure - an adventure trip through music", we'll be playing different styles of music: classical brass music, polkas, marches, medleys from the 80s, concert music and much more. We want to show what we have developed together with our new conductor Michael Seibel. Tickets are available in advance from Blütenwerk Seppenrade and Café Terjung Lüdinghausen.
