Andrea Bomholt

The gateway to another world
Andrea Bomholt is an artist who is inspired by the beauty of nature
Colors, shapes and reflections fascinate her so much that she wants to express everything. She uses everything that nature has to offer. Colors, leaves, bark, roots, stones, etc. When she paints, she wants to express mood and harmony. To make it look as realistic as possible, she not only paints photorealistically, but even life-size on walls and gates inside and outside houses.
There is a hand-painted picture on the Bomholt family's garden gate that delights young and old alike. The water from the moat of Lüdinghausen Castle flows out of a painting on an easel, forming a surrealistic lake. With a painted stone gate surrounding this scene, it invites you to enter another world. If you actually open this gate, you enter the "World of the Bomholts".
The first thing you find here is a boules court. At the end of this boules court is a garage door, which is of course also painted. The passion for boules is expressed there - the lane continues in the picture. A life-size panther made of wire lurks on the side of a garden wall. It can be seen from the street and is a source of lively entertainment for passing children. Is it a tiger or a leopard, perhaps a panther? There are oversized silver wire dandelions in the flower bed. These can also be seen from the street and arouse the curiosity of passers-by.
Some people have wondered whether the flowers are real. The love of butterflies and tropical plants is expressed in the tropical house at the back of the garden. The building was originally a garage and has been converted into a butterfly house where visitors feel like they are in another world. Here, tropical butterflies and birds flutter amidst a colorful sea of plants and the Bomholts' front garden was created to represent the world of elves and fairies. Miniature furniture and houses can be found here, which not only delight children. The miniature landscape also brings a smile to the faces of adults.
In the house, the visitor enters a conservatory directly behind the front door, represented by a picture painted on the entire surface of the wall with a view of a lake. The depiction is so realistic that you are tempted to open the painted door of the conservatory and step onto the footbridge to the lake. On the way through the stairwell, a painted gazelle leaps out at visitors as it flees from a cheetah. The studio is located on the upper floor. This is the birthplace of the miniatures and paintings. Photorealistically painted pictures in chalk, colored pencil and acrylic paint. Animals that seem to jump out of the picture or scenes that you want to touch because they look so realistic. In the bedroom, you dive into the world of the jungle. There you can look a life-size tiger straight in the eye as it drinks from a natural watering hole. The garage door on the driveway simulates an open garage with a parked VW Beetle. Only at second glance do you recognize the real car in front of it.
The Bomholts own two classic cars - a VW Beetle convertible from 1978 and a Mercedes Ponton from 1957, which can be decorated and hired for wedding trips.
