Anton's Alumni

Association aims to bring students and alumni together and establish a network

Antons Alumni: Antonius-Gymnasium now has its own alumni association. Seven former pupils have taken the matter into their own hands, are busy promoting the association and have already organized the first event. Nadine Wenge spoke to founding member Johanna Gerwin, who is currently studying for her master's degree in sport and economics, about Anton and why the school is so great.
How did you come up with the idea of founding an alumni association?
Johanna Gerwin: The deputy principal Christian Weyers put the idea to Julian Ruprecht. When the rest of us heard about it, we were immediately enthusiastic. Because many people have the thought: "Oh, I'd love to hear something from Anton again". We got to work straight away.
Who are we? Who are the founding members?
Johanna Gerwin: That's the deputy principal Christian Weyers and the alumni Theresa Hülk, Julian Rupprecht, Ali Moukalled, Ole Wachsmann, Lena Holtschulte and me. With one exception, we all went to the same level and have fond memories of our school days. The Anton is simply an excellent school with a great school community.
How would you like to fill the association with life?
Johanna Gerwin: The aim is to network the members by offering reunions, to support current students in the area of study and career choice orientation and to enable a connection to the Anton beyond the school years by actively participating in the development of school life.
What specific projects do you have in mind?
Johanna Gerwin: We would like to support the current students by having alumni present their professional biographies and give an insight into working life, we would like to support the X-MAS reunion for year Q1 and arrange internships. In school life, the association supports the school's charitable projects in addition to the school's booster club.
You already have a big event planned...Johann Gerwin: That's right, on Saturday, August 12, from 2 p.m., the schoolyard of St. Antonius Gymnasium will be transformed into a fairground: The Antons Alumni Association invites all former students and teachers of St. Antonius Gymnasium to the big summer party. On this day, you will have the opportunity to meet former classmates again, visit Anton and celebrate. Discussions about their time at school together, their careers and about Anton yesterday and today will be rounded off with music. During school tours, you can discover what the school looks and works like today. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Registrations are requested at antons-alumni@saglh.de.
Who can become a member of the association?
Johanna Gerwin: All former pupils and teachers of St. Antonius Gymnasium as well as current pupils from year 10 onwards
