Torsten Voß
"Lüdinghausen love - that's the right word"
Business promoter Torsten Voß feels very connected to our town
Torsten Voß was born and raised in Lüdinghausen, he lives and works in the town. "I've never seriously thought about leaving the city," says the 33-year-old with a smile on his face. "It's just too beautiful here for that. I feel far too comfortable for that. Our mayor talked about Lüdinghausen love and that's exactly the word that comes to mind when I think of our town."
Torsten Voß has been business development manager for the town of Lüdinghausen for nine months. His job is to be the contact point and administrative guide for all business matters in the town. "I see myself as a caretaker and point of contact for local companies and anyone who wants to settle in Lüdinghausen," says Voß, outlining his area of responsibility. "I am also the link to city marketing."
Even more company visits
He has settled in extremely well since starting last July. "It's a great and varied job that's a lot of fun. The coordination in all areas works well. I would like to visit even more companies in the future and seek direct contact with the entrepreneurs," says Voß. The Lüdinghausen native has also recently started working for the city as a health pilot. He is the central point of contact for the healthcare professions. "Lüdinghausen as a healthcare location is important to us and we want to ensure that the services in our town remain as good as they are."
"Taking on this job was a good move for me," says the 33-year-old, summing up his first few months in the job. He hadn't actively looked for the job, but friends had sent him the job description. "I found it so interesting that I applied and now I'm here," says Torsten Voß. It's nice to work for the town that he loves so much. "Lüdinghausen is a great city to live in," says Voß. "It's not a village, but it's not a big city either. The castles, all the greenery and water. Nowhere else can you go for a walk like here."
Favorite place: Steverwall
His favorite place is the Steverwall and the path further along the Stever to Vischering Castle and the stork nests. "At this point, you have one foot in the countryside and one foot in the city center," enthuses Torsten Voß. He often spends his lunch break here, sitting on one of the benches and reading a book. "I want to help keep our city as beautiful as it is. I also see that as my job as a business promoter."
Head of the fire department
The Lüdinghausen native is not only active for the town of Lüdinghausen on a full-time basis, but also on a voluntary basis. He has been a member of the volunteer fire department since 2001 and has been the fire chief since mid-2021. He has completed all training courses, including group leader, platoon leader and management training. "It's the variety of tasks in the fire department that I like so much. And it's a great balance to my office job," says the 33-year-old. "But the most important thing for him is helping. "It's very fulfilling to help other people."
Great passion: Schalke 04
In his free time, Torsten Voß enjoys doing things with his husband Björn. They are often out and about with their Jack Russell terrier Ben. Preferably around the castles, of course. At home, Torsten Voß likes to sit on his Peloton bike. This is a good way for him to do sport. He is also an active member of the Struck shooting club. Alongside the town of Lüdinghausen and the voluntary fire department, his third great passion is the Schalke 04 soccer club. He is a member and has a season ticket. "Everyone in my family has always been a Schalke fan. I also infected my sister. And I go to the stadium as often as I can. In good times and bad." Nadine Wenge
