A whole book full of cittaslow and great recipes

From the North Sea coast to the Alpine foothills and Lüdinghausen right in the middle

The stories in the new book "Recipes for a liveable city - cittaslow Germany" are all about cittaslow and its members in Germany. The book is a mixture of travel guide and cookbook: each of the 23 cittaslow cities is presented on two double pages. "You find out what makes each city particularly liveable. And there is also a recipe for a specialty from the region, cooked exclusively with regional products," explains Gaby Christensen, who is responsible for "cittaslow" at Lüdinghausen Marketing and contributed the Lüdinghausen entry to the book.

The 23 cities are very different and yet have a lot in common: from the North Sea coast to the Alpine foothills, they are cities that promote the common good and exemplify sustainability. cittaslow towns are rich in history and lively squares, invite you into restaurants and cafés that offer healthy, regional cuisine and showcase fine craftsmanship. The book inspires you to travel through unspoiled landscapes. You will get to know historic half-timbered towns and visit colorful markets and urban gardens, breathe in the healthy brine air or hike through enchanting nature. Above all, however, you will get to know the culinary cittaslow specialties, for each of which you will find the recipe and can easily recreate it.

"Lüdinghausen has been certified with the cittaslow label since 2007," explains Gaby Christensen. "The movement came to Germany from Italy at the end of the 1990s. It recognized very early on how important topics such as sustainability, climate protection, regionality, urban development for the benefit of all, sensory training and slowing down are. Everything that is highly topical today."

In Lüdinghausen, you can experience cittaslow not only in certain places, says Gaby Christensen, but above all through events such as the evening market or the cooking experience "From the farm to the castle". The "Westphalian pepper pot pie" recipe comes from Timo Siepe (Mutter Siepe in Seppenrade).
